Most visitors come to certain websites from search engines like Yahoo! and Google. When they search, they enter some keywords, and then the search engines will list related pages that can be found with those words. With good page rank, your website will be listed at the top of the results page and being the first ones to be shown. Of course then your website will get targeted website visitors. There are several ways that you can increase your page rank, such as:
(a) Write a page title for each webpage. Make it straight forward, simple, and content-related. This page title will appear as hyperlink in the search results pages of the search engine site, which also appears on the top blue bar of a web browser.
(b) Write a keyword and description META tag. 2 important META tags are "keywords" and "description". Try using relevant keywords that most likely to describe your site contents so that you will get the targeted visitors to your site. Use keywords or keyphrases that describe your web content most BUT avoid including keywords that aren’t used on the webpage. META tag is placed at the top of a webpage, between the tags. For example;

(c) Make your site navigation system more search engine friendly. Link your webpages using HTML links, rather than using JavaScript or Flash. With HTML links, ‘spiders’ or the webcrawlers will be able to count links more effectively and thus will increase your page rank. Frames may cause some problems for search engines and thus decreases your page rank also. A site map is useful when your site uses framed HTML pages, so that all your pages can be crawled by the spiders (webcrawlers). Also avoid any broken link throughout your web pages.
(d) Fill your pages with high quality keyword content and you’ll get a good page ranking. As some says, ‘content is king’. Your articles should relevant with the general theme of your website, and should base upon one main keyword. Some people would even pay someone else to write the content of their websites for a better keyword quality.
(e) Develop several webpages, each of different keyword or keyphrase. Duplicated contents on multiple sites might get your page rank penalized by search engine.
(f) Submit your URL to search engines. Look out for “Add your URL” link on search engines like Yahoo, Google, MSN, AOL Search, and etc.
